Reaching out to Construction Workers with Morgan Sindall

In November members of The Skills Service engagement team set up shop at Morgan Sindall’s exciting new construction project, Leeds Skelton Lake Services.

Opening January 2020, Leeds Skelton Lake Services is a ‘new concept’ Motorway Service Area which is now under construction at the M1 Junction 45. Home to a large Morgan Sindall supply chain, it was the perfect place to come inform staff about the construction training and ESF funding available through The Skills Service.

The event was organised by Morgan Sindall’s Community Engagement Manager, Sarah Muscas, who knew the supply chain on site could benefit from what The Skills Service has to offer. We were joined by Leeds College of Building who provided a taster BIM workshop and gave delegates an insight into the capabilities of BIM. All enjoyed over a bacon sandwich!

One of the attendees Dean House, of House Electrical Ltd. said

“As a sole trader it’s up to me to keep my skills up to date but it can be hard to find time to look into training when I have contract commitments. It was time well spent this morning to speak to an advisor at the Skelton Lake Services site. I was able to look at what’s available and find out about funding options, which saves me time trying to work it out for myself.”

Our Skills Advisors who attended the event are now in contact with a number of delegates, who are keen to arrange training and access funding through The Skills Service.

Could your business benefit from a site visit from The Skills Service? If you'd like our team to present to your employees and contractors, please get in touch to find out more.
