The Digital Collaborative Skills Partnership explores potential new strategies for designing the skills system, for training and engaging a diverse workforce. It aims to be innovative in its approach and ambitious in fostering a solid collaboration with employers and their supply chain. Partnerships have been formed with training providers and other organisations to create ambitious, transformative proposals that will aim to deliver the skills that SMEs need in the Leeds City Region.

The group has looked at the existing skills provision for the digital sector, for which a report has been produced and work looking at the current skills provision for Digital Sector SMEs is well underway.

As part of the devolution agreement, the government has committed to establishing a Digital Skills Partnership in West Yorkshire. Local Digital Skills Partnerships (LDSP) have been established in seven LEP areas to tackle local digital skills challenges. The objective of the LDSP is to bring together key stakeholders involved in digital skills (both supply and demand) to work to identify digital skills needs, barriers and identify opportunities for interventions.

The ambitions of the LDSP and Collaborative Skills Partnership are very similar, it is likely membership of the two will include the same key stakeholders. The LDSP will focus on digital skills shortages in all sectors across West Yorkshire, whereas the CSP will continue to focus on digital skills shortages across the digital sector itself. The LDSP and CSP will meet together, or sequentially to cover all digital skills and will also jointly attend the Digital Board to provide updates on work undertaken and activities.
