Skills Cafe

Date: Tuesday 25 February (Pancake day)
Time: 8.30am - 12pm
Venue: John Smith's Stadium, Stadium Way, Huddersfield, HD1 6PG


Details: This free skills event is for businesses working in the construction, engineering, manufacturing and transport sectors. It offers a free taste of the training available through The Skills Service, there will be industry bodies present and an opportunity to discuss your business training needs with a skills advisor who can help find the solution and funding.

8:30am - Coffee and 'pitchside pancakes': Breakfast, registration and a chat with The Skills Service team.

As it's pancake day there will also be a breakfast of pancakes served overlooking the John Smith's Stadium pitch. Home of the Huddersfield Giants and Huddersfield Town FC.

9-10am - Skills Surgeries with the skills advisors. Find out about funding for workforce training through the European Social Fund (ESF) and how The Skills Service can help you access it and find the right courses over a coffee.

10am - Free workshop - How to be a great manager: A free taster workshop for people who are new to team leader and manager roles or who have been in the role but never received any formal training.

This interactive one-hour session will enable team leaders and managers to explore what it takes to be an authentic and inspiring manager. We will consider the skills and behaviours needed to bring out the best in your teams helping you to have a happy, engaged and productive team.

Training provider: Pro-Development UK (a contracted provider of The Skills Service).

11am - Coffee and funding - meet our partners: Coffee with The Skills Service - catch us after the workshops for another opportunity to discuss training and the ESF funding available.

Our partnered industry bodies, CITB and CECA will also be available for a chat about funding, grants and opportunities within the region.

The Skills Service is managed by the West Yorkshire Consortium of Colleges and funded by the European Social Fund.
